Acne(Latin Acne Vulgaris) is a skin disease that occurs mainly in adolescence, 85% of cases are adolescents and acne often persists into adulthood. Acne affects a large percentage of the population at some point in their lives there is no way however to calculate how long it will take to disappear completely. It is mainly due to the body’s reaction to large amounts of hormones (testosterone) androgens, bacteria but also to common allergies to various foods.

Symptoms

The most common form of acne is Acne Vulgariswhich means “common acne” and most people suffer from this type of acne. The face and upper neck are most often affected, but the back, chest and shoulders are also affected. Despite the permanent signs, acne affects the psychology more. Acne mainly affects people in their teens and early twenties. Therefore fast and intense treatment is recommended to reduce the negative effects on the individual.

Causes

The exact reason why people develop acne is not yet known. Several factors are said to be associated with acne:

  • Family history: The tendency to develop acne is hereditary. For example, when a teenage boy has acne then he has another family member with acne.
  • Hormonal activity
  • Stress
  • Accumulation of dead skin cells
  • Bacteria in the pores
  • Skin irritation may cause inflammation
  • The use of anabolic steroids
  • Any medicines contain halogens, lithium or androgens
  • Exposure to high levels of chlorine
  • Exposure to specific drugs and chemical recommendations such as drugs

Treatment

Scientists have suggested the administration of zinc to treat acne. Zinc affects the amount of vitamin A stored in the tissues, which in turn can reduce sebum production, hence the symptoms of acne.
