The main transmission occurs during the symptomatic phase. The incident is considered to be no longer contagious 24 hours after the onset of symptoms.

What are the symptoms of COVID-19 infection?

The main symptoms of the disease include the following: Fever, dry cough and discharge. Some experience sore throat, arthralgia / myalgia and nasal congestion. The symptoms are usually mild and about 80% of patients recover without the need for special treatment.

Which patients are most at risk for developing a serious illness?

Some patients develop dyspnea (difficulty breathing) and possibly pneumonia, which requires hospitalization. However it seems to behave like other coronaviruses. According to the results of studies, coronaviruses can remain on the surface for a few hours or up to several days. This can be influenced by factors such as surface type, temperature or ambient humidity. If there is a suspicion that a surface may be contaminated, then it should be cleaned with a simple disinfectant and then the hands should be cleaned with an alcoholic solution or washed thoroughly with soap and water.
